Myrrh Resin Incense 1/2 oz

$2.50

Myrrh is a sap-like resin produced by a thorny shrub in the Commiphora genus, which includes the likes of Frankincense. It's natural gum is harvested when the bark of the tree is cut and the resin escapes in “tears” or small beads, which harden quickly and become glossy and amber-colored with age.
This is a non-combustible resin incense, which means heat must be applied to release its fragrance (usually with a self-lighting charcoal tablet).

To use incense, ignite a charcoal tablet and place in a heat-proof container. You can grind the incense to a fine powder and sprinkle on the glowing tablet. Or place resin on tablet and cover the heat proof container.Native to Ethiopia, Somalia and Yemen, this resinous material is aged for several weeks before going to market. Myrrh gum has a long history of use in the Mediterranean region as a fragrance and it was also among the materials utilized in the elaborate embalming process used by the ancient Egyptians.

Dried myrrh gum is highly fragrant and is used alone or in blends with other materials to create quality incense.
